Emma D’s Free Write

Once upon a time…

First there was a god

Then there was a world

First there was a boy

Then there was a girl

First there was the sky

And them there was the sea

First there was Adam

Then there was eve

First there was yellow

And then there was blue

First there was me,

And then there was you

Natalie C’s Great Freewrite!

You may say I’m a dreamer but I’m not the only one. When we dream we’re in a new place we’re in our own head and we just get to forget. But there are people who care to much to just dream without their head among their thoughts. Stop taking what they say seriously, they don’t know you, you do. And if they try to define you they are either jealous or they care to much about what others think. I hope some day you’ll join us and the world will be as one.

Victorian Slang

1. AFTERNOONIFIED

A society word meaning “smart.” Forrester demonstrates the usage: “The goods are not ‘afternoonified’ enough for me.”

2. ARFARFAN’ARF

A figure of speech used to describe drunken men. “He’s very arf’arf’an’arf,” Forrester writes, “meaning he has had many ‘arfs,’” or half-pints of booze.

3. BACK SLANG IT

Thieves used this term to indicate that they wanted “to go out the back way.”

4. BAGS O’ MYSTERY

An 1850 term for sausages, “because no man but the maker knows what is in them. … The ‘bag’ refers to the gut which contained the chopped meat.” Read More…

Heartbroken

By Pleia H

They walk among us
But no one sees them
We say we help
But we don’t
They are the forgotten
They are the lonely
But unlike you, they have nobody
When they cry out
No one can hear them
When they try to reach out
No one is there
When they go
We mourn
But
We really have no idea
Until
We
Are
Them

OAK TREE

I stand triumphant
Strong and wise
I’ve seen the world
Through my leafy eyes
I’ve been here forever
But no one cares
I listen as everyone
Yells and swears
I am many
I am one
With my arms
I touch the sun
I don’t speak
Yet am wiser than men
Come and listen
If you can
